ASSOCIAZIONE LIGURE
COMMERCIO ESTERO

Who we are

ALCE, the Ligurian Foreign Trade Association, is the business association that brings together the Ligurian companies always engaged in international trade.

The Association was founded in Genoa in 1945 with the aim to preserve free international trade and promote the legislative instruments which would allow Italy to regain its role in the global business environment.

Prior to the liberalisation of markets, ALCE has significantly contributed to solving some issues relating to international trade, such as: the realisation of the "Franco Valuta" system, the repeal of the Italian Law no. 159/77, which caused the marginalisation of most Italian foreign exchanges, the privatisation of the harbour of Genoa and the revision of the Harbour Act, which followed the "March of 10,000" in 1987 against the monopoly of the Compagnia Unica on the harbour.

Our past and traditions are the basis for our current activities. ALCE is committed to an ongoing search for new ideas and proposals to improve global trade and establish its ethical principles.

ALCE has always supported the principle of free trade within the private sector.

The Association aims primarily to provide its members with representative services for their relations with Authorities, Professional Organisations and the other Entities and Institutions involved in international trade.

The task of the Association consists in promoting the trading activities and the international culture particularly to decision-makers, as well as providing services for the improvement of foreign exchanges through dedicated tools.

ALCE also provides its members with information services, training, advisory and assistance services for policy and trade union issues, as well as technical and legal advisory and assistance services in tax, administration, financial, customs, employment, and social security matters.
